I've made syrah for over twenty years now. Every single winery I've worked at in the past has made syrah in one vintage or another. It's a great varietal that displays vintage and clonal differences maybe more so than any other. This particular syrah is no different. With a combination of five different clones from five distinctly different parcels, you won't believe the complexity that this wine reveals once the cork is popped.
Spice driven notes are the handle on this wine. The body gives a big nod to the mountains it was grown on as it displays a distinct acidity that underlies the big black fruit that your nose will not be able to get away from. It's no secret that I love syrah. The 2006 and I have had many an affair already with more quality time to come. Crack open a bottle of the 2006 syrah and have a rendezvous of your own.
